What is Druidry?
Druidry is a rich and beautiful tapestry that embraces all facets of our life. It is a nine-fold journey of self discovery that brings a perfect balance of Spirituality and Universal Love & Compassion to our existence, opening us to the non-material World and showing us how we may honour, celebrate and serve it.

It is a Mystical journey…
The sacred mystery of the Divine within all of life lies at the heart of Druidry. As one travels the Druid Path, one encounters the mystical within, and starts to perceive that which is described as Unity, Life force, God or Spirit. This is gained through deep and regular meditation as a daily practice.

It is a Shamanic journey…
All communities throughout history who are associated with the land and spirit have their Shamans. The Druid as Shaman learns journeying to explore the inner landscape and develop contact with personal Totems and Guides who help in answering questions and quests. Again, the regular practice of Meditation develops the skills necessary for Journeying and Questing.

It is a Bardic journey…
There are three levels within Druidry, the first being the Bard. The journey of the Bard is one of discovering the poetic and artistic beauty that rests within each one of us, and externalising these through word and gesture. Honouring the Land and the Spirit of Place by becoming familiar with the elements and nature and then weaving word and gesture into ritual and ceremony to affirm the love of all things.

It is an Ovate journey…
The Ovate journey is the second level where one starts to discover the true inner self through Meditation and Shamanic Journeying, meeting the Guides and Totems that help us all. The Ovate is the Healer of a community and learns about the power of Herbs and Plants, Treelore and the language of the Druids, know as Ogham.

It is a Life Affirming journey…
Druidry honours the rites of passage that make life meaningful and significant, such as Birth, Naming, Coming of Ages, Marriages & Unions and Death & Partings. Druidry marks every stage along life’s path with a Rite of Celebration & Thanks.

It is a Magical journey…
Druids honour the four elements as a manifestation of THE ONE. Druids weave the magic of Earth, Fire, Air and Water together through ritual within the sacred circle, by honouring the powers of the North & Land, South & Sun, East & Wind, West & Moon.

It is an Adaptable journey…
All are welcome to walk the path of the Druid Way. Druidry respects and relates to the true philosophies of the World religions and beliefs and embraces Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Judaism to name but a few, for at the heart of these beliefs is the fundamental mystical core of the Life Force, Spirit, God, Unity; various words that attempt to describe The Uncreated One, the Universal Light. Druidry is also adaptable as it can be embraced at any level of commitment as it is a path of self-development.

It is a Responsible journey…
Originally, a Druid studied for 19 years before entering the World in service to others. Today, Druids need to attain a certain level of enlightenment before teaching, healing and counselling, in order to avoid using others as a means of working through ones own issues, however well intentioned. KNOW THYSELF is the maxim of the Druid.

It is a Harmonising journey…
Druids harmonise their life by celebrating the 8-fold year, giving people an opportunity every 6-to-7 weeks to take time out from their busy and hectic lives to stop, pause and re-establish the deep connection all have with the environment. The eight festivals celebrate the cycle of the year, four being Solar and four being Fire. They are:

Alban Arthuan: 21 Dec, Winter Solstice when the Light returns to the land.
Imbolc: 2 Feb, The first stirrings of Spring.
Alban Eiler: 21 Mar, Spring Equinox when the Light & Dark is equal.
Beltaine: 2 May, Fertility and the Joy of Life.
Alban Hefin: 21 Jun, Summer Solstice when the Sun is at its highest.
Lughnasadh: 1 Aug, The time of Light and Harvest.
Alban Elued: 21 Sep, Autumn Equinox when Light & Dark is equal.
Samhuinn: 1 Nov, End/Start of the Druid Year. Death & Rebirth.

Druidry is a part of the Old Ways that can never die, for they are a part of the Land itself.
